Nepal Telecom (NT) has launched Fiber to the Home (FTTH) which is powered by optical fiber technology. This technology provides high speed broadband internet connection along with VOIP and other multimedia content to the customers.
For now FTTH service is only available in few places like Kamaladi, Kathmandu plaza, Durmarg & Jamal areas as a testing place and it will be available to about 35 places inside Kathmandu valley very soon followed by cities like Pokhara, Bharatpur, Birgunj, Biratnagar & Butwal in near future.
This new optical fiber technology will replace the copper cable network. For that Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) device will be used. The registration charge is fixed at Rs 500 and the cable costs Rs 60/meter.
