Nepal Telecom to offer free Wi-Fi hotspot for limited time

Nepal Telecom is planning to offer free Wi-Fi at various places inside and outside the Kathmandu valley for free for three months.

Nepal Telecom, following its social responsibility is installing Hotspot on various location inside Kathmandu valley. The Hotspot will be free for three months.

Nepal Telecom already has such service inside Tribhuvan international Airport and other places like Bir Hospital, Tribhuvan University and Teaching Hospital Maharajgung.

Activate NTC 3G internet on CDMA SIM

Nepal Telecom has has introduced IP CDMA technology EVDO (CDMA 3G) services and is providing various Volume based data packages. People with active CDMA can buy this data volume if they have enough balance in their account. You can buy these packages by sending SMS to 1456. Information technology (IT) has developed rapidly with the global use of internet, Till mid august 2012, the country's internet penetration rate was 19.32 per cent up from 11.16 per cent in mid august 2011 according to Nepal Telecommunications Authority. More than 19 per cent Nepalis using internet is a good sign for Nepal, although it is less in comparison to other countries. FOR older iOS Versions
Step 1: Go to Settings      

Step 2: Go to General

Step 3: Go to Cellular

Step 4: Go to Cellular Data Network setting

Step 5: Enable the APN settings

Step 6: On APN type "ntnet" without quotes.

Step 7: Leave username and password field blank.

Step 8: Restart your iPhone and you are done. Enjoy the NTC GPRS/3G network on your iPhone.


FOR iOS8

1. From the main menu, tap Settings > Cellular.
2. Check that Cellular Data is turned on.
3. Tap Cellular Data Network. 
   Important: If this setting does not appear on the device, the device is not unlocked.
4. Enter the following information under the Cellular Data section:
   • APN: ntnet
   • Username: <Leave Blank>
   • Password: <Leave Blank>

If both of above doesn't work
Go to :  Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Network.
To edit the settings, tap each field and enter the details provided above. You should edit APN. Leave username and password field blank. In APN field use ntnet. The settings should save automatically.

Step 1: Go to Settings

Step 7: Leave username and password field blank.

UPDATE: For user with iPhone iOS 7 who couldn't find APN setting please first reset your network setting by going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings and then following the steps given above.

UPDATE: Depending on you iOS version APN setting can be found on
Go to the Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Network
For New iOS device: Setting > Mobile > Mobile data Network.

Still cannot find APN setting on your iPhone, follow these steps 
1. turn off iPhone
2. remove sim card
3. wait 5 minutes
4. turn on iPhone (don't put your SIM yet)
5. wait for the iPhone to fully boot up
6. insert sim card

SLC result 2069

The Office of the Controller of Examinations (OCE) on Tuesday published the results of the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) exams held from March 14-22 this year.
According to the OCE, 41.57 percent students have passed the exams under regular category which is 5.59 percent less than the pass rate of last year.
A total of 16924, students have achieved distinction, 76,282 students got first division, 75,678 second division and rest passed in the third division, according to the OCE.
A total of 511,165 students sat for the exams with 403,936 in regular category and 107,229 in the exempted category, according to the Office of the Controller of Examinations (OCE).

Nepal Telecom is offering 3G services for Smartphone users with a small activation charge. The 3G internet services is good in various parts of Kathmandu valley and its also available in major cities like Pokhera. 

The one time activation charge for 3G service is Rs 100 for Pre-paid users. The GPRS tariff for 3G internet is Rs. 0.15/100 Kb which is same as the 2G (EDGE and GPRS).
